Energy Soap

Getting ready for a craft fair coming up at the end of October! I decided to use a wonderful fragrance called Energy and wanted vibrant colors to add with it.  I then added calendula petals to the five pound batch and nothing to the two pound batch.  Love the way it turned out!

Ready in TWO weeks!

With calendula petals

The log before its cut up!
Have a GREAT smelling day!

5K Run

Saturday was a BEAUTIFUL perfect morning! I ran a 5K at 8am.  My son joined me as well, but since he runs quite a bit faster than me I saw a glimpse of his green shirt and then not again until he was on the return track to FINISH! I was blessed with my leg holding strong, a friend to push me and a gorgeous day!

My poor T, for some reason when I was registering us for all our races this fall...I happened to put him down as a female:( THEN several of us racers parked unknowingly in a car auction so during the award ceremony I had all these people checking out my van:) Long story short I had to move my van and in the process almost missed the awards completely! I heard Trey's name but didn't realize that it was in the female division.  He went up to get his time and then found out that he was put with the girls:( The event organizer told him he could keep his First Place ribbon but he didn't want the girl that deserved it to NOT have it and he wanted his TRUE reward....so he took his second place ribbon and I was very proud of him.  Second place is very good but once you think you got first...its hard to swallow.....and by the way he's placed in four races of the seven he has run.  The other two he came in 4th.  He came in first at one race but can't seem to get out of second.  Still he had a good run.  25:14 is very good...especially with NO training but two runs in one month!

I had my BEST PR so far and am hoping to take four minutes off that time for my next5K in November.  This next 5K is the ONE that beat me up last year and I haven't ran that stretch again since my injury.  I'm hoping to overcome that fear and get that behind me in November!

BEFORE the run....yes, I made him fix that!

BEFORE the run!
AFter the run!!!!

Yes, he's that much taller than me and he's only 12!
He likes his first place better but not when he only beat the girls:)

Coffee Soap with Jojoba beads

I tried a new twist with my coffee soap the other day.  I'm getting ready for a craft fair coming up at the end of October and am finding that I have several batches to get up to speed to be ready.  I also would like to have some candles ready to go as well.  Today I plan on making two batches of soap....and cleaning:) My favorite days are days that I don't have to go anywhere...I can go without makeup and clean, and do school...and just be at HOME:)

My coffee soap remains one of my top sellers and I'm pretty sure always will.  There are no added colors its an all natural soap.  My ingredients include: olive oil, mango butter, coconut oil, palm flakes, palm oil, cinnamon leaf EO, orange EO, Patchouli EO.  I also use coffee grounds, shredded loofah and this time blue jojoba beads.  I am already getting pre-orders!

Have a GREAT smelling day!

Lip Balm

Finally had the time to make some lip balm.  I made it a couple of months ago and of course ran out.  Before I decided to make it again I wanted to decide on a container.  After asking around I came to realize that people wanted a tube so that they didn't have to put their finger in it every time.  I can appreciate that so I made the switch! It was harder to pour but in the end I'm happy...and isn't it ALWAYS about me??? NO it isn't:)

Ingredients I used: Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Shea Butter, Lip Safe Copper Mica and Lip Safe Watermelon fragrance.  When using things for your lips they MUST be approved LIP SAFE! I am testing it out now and LOVING it!

Just need to make labels and they will be available locally and on my Etsy store! Have a GREAT day!

Keeping our Head up!

For the past two weeks I have had NOTHING but interruptions! Doctor, orthodontist appointments and JUST when I think I'm getting ahead...another child needs something.  The other day I got home for no longer than an hour than it was back in the car again with a different child to take them somewhere else!  I have one brand new in braces, one that needed a re-do of her hearing test, and the other one that needed bloodwork done because they think she has mono.  My house is in utter ruin and here I sit...typing....and all I want to do is plunge my house in Clorox bleach!

The ongoing trials with my E....she failed her hearing test at the pediatrician the other day but at the visit with the ENT she passed...however, they now are worried (again) about her tonsils...she has one bigger than the other...which may be why she has asthma....which may be...which may be...which may be!  All I can tell you is I want my child to be able to hear, be able to speak clearly, be able to READ just like everyone else! I feel inadequate just about every day...and THEN just when I feel I'm losing it and not able to teach her...she comes shining through!  Why is it so important that she is "normal" what does it matter if she reads later than others? Does this mean that she won't succeed in life because she read at 6 or 7 instead of five??? Do we as home school Mom's set the bar so high that we take it personally when the child doesn't achieve what we THINK they were supposed to achieve? Five is tricky...should we hold our kids back a year...are they ready? I know that I'm doing curriculum right now for kindergarten AND preschool.  I'm having LONG conversations with her dance teacher...trying to decide if I should hold her back one year...she knows what to do dance wise but is not able to hold the concentration for the 75 min class period.  Am I expecting to much, to little?????

So, this week...I'm praying, breathing, playing, reading...relaxing...taking one breath in...one breath out....because its not really WORTH getting all upset about.  God made her and knows what is best for her and as long as I'm praying and listening to what He's guiding me to do.....it will all work out! May His name be praised!

at the ENT office...she looked so little on the BIG chair!
Our favorite place for shakes! Her glasses crack me up!
We shall keep on...keeping on!

Layered Soap

I tried a different technique in my newest soap which I think turned out well.  Instead of layering I did the swirl, and then added glitter on top.  Fragrance is Fresh Snow....smells sooo good!

Freshly Poured!

Ready in four weeks!

My pumpkin Pie Spice is available now in my Etsy shop as well as my Ellie Belly Soap!

Have a GREAT day!

Braces!

Today was braces day! My baby boy got braces...my oldest...is so tall....growing so fast! I knew that he didn't want me taking pictures...but I did it anyway...cause I'm Mom...and I can:)

x-rays and impressions of his mouth I didn't get to see...really wanted to see the impression since when I was growing up it was the most disgusting part of the ritual...but I'm not complaining...they let me in finally:)

Here I got to watch the whole process...quite interesting from the "cave" days that my friends and I had to endure...anybody give a shout out for spacers, and metal that goes around each individual back tooth?? No, you've never heard of these things....well your NOT alone! Apparently technology is our friend...and they've come a LONG way!

First up...I was there to watch the placing of the FIRST bracket!

Then, the orthodontist comes and checks on progress and lays the rest!

Then the fun begins! We get to pick colors!!!!

Here's a picture of just BRACKETS!

Yep! that's the face I get:)

Then after choosing black and blue for bands here is the finished product!  Top braces complete!

I had to put the phone up way higher since he is so much taller than me!

So, there ya go! Our adventure for the morning...now to finish school and get some cleaning done!

Have a GREAT day!
