I'm a stay at home Mom of two children and I have the unique privilege of being able to homeschool both of them. I am a stepmother to two older daughters one who is going to college. I enjoy shopping, baking, cooking, cleaning, organizing, running, clowning, making soap, playing piano and lately painting with ASCP paint! I am learning to enjoy the little things in life and make the most of it...clinging to my Savior through the tears that life brings and enjoying his GRACE He gives us every day! Thanks for stopping by!

Our Tonsil Time

For awhile my poor E has had trouble with her tonsils and like many parents these days I had several doctors who said they were big but not big enough.....finally after multiple doctor visits over the past three years they changed their minds...and yesterday was tonsil time:)

The nursers were great....getting her a chariot to go to the operating room.  Giving her a stuffed animal to pick out to go back to the operating room....and she got to watch a little tv before going back.

Before surgery

After Surgery....trying to be brave:(

It hurts to see your babies hurt so bad:(
Mommy isn't shown because Mommy almost fainted and had to get a seperate bed! Yes, I can't take blood and completely LOST it! I didn't go to the floor but my hands were tingly, nurses gave me pop to get some sugar in me and had two nurses working on me....thankfully Ellie slept through it all!

It's been rough...a lot of throwing up....waiting to hear from the doc about getting meds changed....motherhood is NOT for the weak! Thanks for your concerns and prayers! The doctor could NOT get over how huge her tonsils and adnoids were!

Have a GREAT day! I'm going to take a nap and take a glorious shower:)

Hot Chocolate Bar

I saw this on a blog that I follow quite a while ago called "Dear Lillie" its adorable and wonderful and makes me a wee bit jealous at times.  My house doesn't look like that and at times I really really really wish it did.

So, I decided that I would make up my own version so I did.  I bought absolutely nothing for this project except for the candy canes.

I really do like how it turned out and hope that everyone else does to:)

Some people use actual chocolate that they scoop out we have allergies here and I need to keep them apart.  Even hot chocolate has corn in it if you can believe it~

I bought these four years ago at Nell Hill for each child.  They were the perfect fit!

I wish I had more plate though:(

So, here we go now bring on the snow:)

Thanksgiving Day and Turkey Trot

We have started a new tradition of running a 5K every Thanksgiving Day.  My son did not have a great race and neither did I.  It was the slowest I have ever gone...my hubby on the other hand had a GREAT race without even trying.  We had fun though and ate a lot! My right leg is giving me fits and has since yesterday..and for running such a ridiculous time I have no idea why! Here are some pics of our day!

Trey was three minutes slower, I was running with Elisha and she didn't feel well so I was five minutes slower...Mark had a GREAT race.

Then Elisha went to her Mom's and the rest of us went to my house to have my feast that Mark and I had wisely prepared the night before:)

Turkey, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry supreme salad, stuffing, rolls, cinnamon honey butter...and pies:) yes, it was yummo!

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Turning 13

My boy is getting ready to turn 13 this coming Friday and I just can't believe it.  He has grown so tall and so quickly and I'm so very sad these days at how quickly my children are growing.

This year I wanted him to have a very special birthday cake because he worked really hard at the last race so I wanted to focus mainly on the cake....since really....I just don't want to talk about how my baby is turning to the teenage years and that the new year will find me 39 or that my baby girl will be six....or...or...life is going WAY TO FAST!!!!

So, here are a few snapshots of the party.  All Trey and his friends wanted to do was eat and play video games and eat and watch movies...and eat...so....that's just what they did.

The 23.50 is for his best time so far in a 5K.  So Happy EARLY Birthday my dear Trey:)

Home school Classes

Last night my dear children were upset that it would be the last time they see some of their friends for awhile from our enrichment classes.  We don't go to church with very many of them but some of them are in Trey's Scouts.  Still, my E was most distraught that her dear friend Naomi she would "neber eber see again."

As always I'm so impressed with all that the children have been taught.  Such a blessing to have people that can help our children learn things that would be hard for me to teach.  My E had a blast learning Rainbows (which was an extension of art class) she LOVES art! She also enjoyed Number, Numbers which just helped along with what I'm teaching her and LAST but not least....her absolute FAV class which was OOEY GOOEY Science.  I have to say that this is NOT my cup of tea and was glad to have people to help me with that.  Here are just a few snapshots of some of her time in Science class.

and just one of her projects from Rainbows, Rainbows..

and last night during the program for Numbers, Numbers E was supposed to say :"uno, dos, tres" to which she replies "I don't want to!" To which my friends behind me and beside me just died laughing...as I slumped down into my chair....you just NEVER know with Ellie!

Before the program they were a bit nervous!

It was my T's first time singing with the highschool choir and this semester he enjoyed:Personal Finance, Speech, Chess and Choir.

My kiddos are sad to see classes go but this Mom has missed her Tuesdays....let the crazy of the holidays officially begin:)

Thanksgiving Tree

If you know me...you have heard how I love Ann Voskamp...and how that two years ago I started reading her book one thousand gifts.  If you haven't read it...I suggest you get it.  It is LIFE changing!  www.onethousandgifts.com  I would also suggest you go there to print out the leaves for the Thanksgiving Tree I'm about to share with you.

This year I'm changing things a LOT.  I'm making due with what I have, and purging my home.  This year I will NOT spend two weeks "dressing my house" for the holidays.  I have prayed and discussed with my family...we are RULED by STUFF! ENOUGH! Get rid of the excess and live in the amazing gifts we have...each other, focus on God and His amazing gifts that He gives us every day.  Make the little things in life the EXTRAORDINARY and celebrate all the little parts of it.

I'm not saying sell your houses and cars and live on love and fish sticks...but I am saying...get rid of what controls you...what burdens you...what irritates you...and relax and live in the little joys of everyday! We really have so much to be grateful for!

I downloaded these leaves from Ann's website...and then my daughter and I have begun cutting them out, reading the verses and enjoying the time.  She started singing "Give Thanks to the Lord for He is good!" Oh how my heart soared!

Yes, give THANKS to the Lord for He is good:)

Training for Half Marathon

Here we go! Training for a half.  I have one coming up in April and I have to say that this goal is amazing to me.  I can't fathom being able to run that far for that long...but I'm gonna try!

I have started some serious strength training.  I go to our church once a week with a lady that does strength training and she seriously whips my rear every week.  I knew however that once a week was NOT going to cut it.  So, I went and bought the exercise tape www.jillianmichaelsrippedin30.com  I have done this workout every day but one rest day.  My stepdaughter did it with me one night and she could not finish the tape...which means it seriously works! I also am doing some extra work with bands to increase the strength in my shoulders, and that combined with yoga seems to be working:)

I do see a massage therapist who works on my troubled leg and for those of you thinking its a "ahhh" feeling its not....its a deep tissue massage and it KILLS while she's working on it but after....I get the "ahhh".

This first week of running will be ok...nothing to scary...gonna try and get my mileage to four miles.  I run one last 5K on Thanksgiving day with my son.  Hopefully it will NOT be freezing!

So, wish me luck on my new quest! Have a GREAT day!

Keeping my eyes on the prize of FINISH!!!!!!
